Ontology Of Things

Year—2020
7K! Records—20 exclusive songs by 20 artists from around the world describe and define one of the most hidden secrets of music, what is the secret? Ambient Music is really everywhere and part of our lives.
Ambient Layers is a journey. In a moment in which travelling has become a little more complicated, we have curated a collection of songs that encourage you to wander with the mind, aided by the exploratory sounds of ambient music.
This is Ambient Layers, the new compilation from 7K!’s Layers series (started in 2019 with Piano Layers and followed in 2020 by String Layers), dedicated to the discovery of new sensations in the space between acoustic and electronic elements. Across 20 exclusive tracks Ambient Layers traverses the sonic planes, analysing and manipulating the world around us to redefine contemporary ambient music as we know it.
From orchestral atmospheres to obsessive minimalism, from pure space-sounds to robotic synths, Ambient Layers is an experiential selection of music by 20 artists from around the world, from countries such as the UK, US, Iceland, Germany, South Korea, Japan, Australia, the Netherlands and more.
Included on the compilation are unreleased tracks from the likes of the cinematic and daring British composer Roger Goula, the soundmaster Adam Wiltzie from Stars Of The Lid and A Winged Victory For The Sullen, and the incredible talent Rutger Hoedemaekers, a previous collaborator of Jóhann Jóhannsson, Hildur Gudnadóttir. Icelandic composer Herdis Stefánsdóttir brings a unique delicacy to Ambient Layers, which are complimented by the incredible atmospheres of Tilman Robinson and Ryan Teague.
For this special project 7K! are honoured to present special works from 3 of the godfathers of ambient and electronic music – the iconic Robert Lippok, and the incomparable duo of Michel Banabila & Machinefabriek. Also featured are three of the most innovative new names in German music, Lisa Morgenstern, Frieder Nagel, and Hannes Kretzer plus the Pan-Asian psychedelic-drone duo TENGGER. Ambient Layers introduces Daughter Produkt, the new art project by Christina Vantzou, Heinrich Mueller and Ruben Benabou, as well as the heavy dub-bass-ambience of Douglas Kallmeyer and the collaboration between Tara Nome Doyle & 1k Flowers.
